About Caldo

davezillionSo who am I, what’s my deal?

For me, knowing how to fix things has always been a way of life. I guess it goes back to the way my parents raised me. They always encouraged me to learn new things and to figure out how to solve problems on my own. Nothing beats the sense of accomplishment I get when I turn a problem into a solution, and that’s what home repair and home improvement is all about. For anyone who’s ever attempted home repair or improvement on their own, they know exactly where I’m coming from.

I’ve built my own houses; from clearing the land, to digging down, to building up. I’ve done detailed trim, bathrooms, cabinet work and anything in between. I’ve wired things, planted things, painted things and fixed broken things and improved mediocre things. People joke that I should have a neighborhood hotline because I seem to be on call for everyone; but truth be told, I don’t mind because I really enjoy helping my friends and neighbors and sharing whatever knowledge I have with them.

I haven’t always gotten everything right. One of the first things you learn when you decide to take on these projects is that you might screw up. The best way to avoid that is by preparation, and creating and following a clear, simple plan. But mistakes happen. And when they do you have to know how to correct them and eventually, to learn from them.

So test me. Ask questions, debate, help me make this a useful and open forum so members can learn, save money and feel confident about doing things themselves. My goal is not to be the best writer or the smoothest storyteller but rather to explain things in a way that will help you get stuff done, feel a sense of accomplishment and save money!

We can all do these things. Most of us just need a little help getting started. Let’s use DaveZillion to give each other that helping hand.
